NPA Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Nebraska Psychological Association is the same as that of the American Psychological Association and is as follows:
…to advance psychology as a science and as a means of promoting human welfare by the encouragement of psychology in all its branches in the broadest and most liberal manner. It does so by promoting research in psychology and the improvements of the qualification and competence of psychologists through high standards of ethical conduct, education and achievement, and by the dissemination of psychological journals and special reports.
NPA promotes:
- The independent practice of clinical and consulting psychology
- The highest standards of ethical & effective practice
- The education of government entities, elected representatives and the public on the practice and science of psychology
- The application of psychological resources to address social problems
- The dissemination of evidenced based practices
